Give instructions to patients and arrange appointments, updates and maintains schedule to maximize patient and provider. Retrieve x-rays, laboratory reports, and other relevant patient data; ensures patient's medical records and laboratory reports are received from the appropriate outside facilities prior to patient's appointment. Record data involving outpatient appointments, inpatient admissions, and discharge and transfer information using the medical facility's automated and/or manual medical records system. Responsible for giving information, usually in person but also frequently over the telephone, in response to inquiries concerning the identification, location and general responsibilities of health center, functions, programs, activities, operations and similar questions. Types a variety of materials such as correspondence reports, technical documents and requisition forms. Receives all visitors and telephone calls. Directs incoming and outgoing calls and questions to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner, adhering to the healthcare center's policy regarding the release of patient information and handling of telephone calls. Takes phone messages and obtains current contact information. Applies knowledge of software functions to produce a wide range of documents that may require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, to edit and reformat electronic drafts, and to update or revise existing databases or spreadsheets. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Grade 04:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to perform the work of this position at the GS 04 level. OR Provide evidence of 2 years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Possess a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify an applicant for the GS 04 level. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Grade 05:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
Examples include:
knowledge in carrying out clerical support in a medical treatment facility in providing sufficient to give instructions to patients and arrange appointments, retrieve x-rays, laboratory reports, and other relevant patient data, organize patient records to research records, extract medical information and review records for completeness, accuracy, and consistency with health center requirements; and record data involving outpatient appointments, use the medical treatment facility's automated and/or manual medical records system; relay information regarding patient's condition, schedule follow-up appointments, and resolve clinic problems of scheduling, emergencies, missed appointments, and schedule follow-up appointments for patients using the medical services provided by the medical treatment facility. OR Provide evidence of 4 years of education above the high school level. OR Possess a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for GS 05 grade level. PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS:
In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants for this position must show possession of Office Automation (OA) skills, This position requires the skill of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute (based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors). All candidates must self-certify their typing ability when completing the occupational questionnaire. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements:
Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
